Our Philosphy

Empowerment through education is a core value of HealthSET.

The HealthSET mission statement is to enhance the professional and personal development of learners by providing programmes which are enriching and transformational.

HealthSET's teaching philosophy is based and inspired by Paulo Friere (1921-1997) a Theorist in adult education who believed in the empowerment of students. He believed education is a  two-way learning process between teacher and learners.

HealthSET promotes these principles and integrates education with real world experiences.

HealthSET is dedicated to providing learners with the necessary skill-set, knowledge base and self-confidence to deliver informed and high quality  healthcare, based on best practice guidelines.

Innovative Learning

Our QQI accredited courses are taught using a variety of teaching methods. Role plays and real-life simulated situations are used to demonstrate and teach practical nursing care skills. The class room environment is highly interactive with lively group discussions. Small study groups allow students to share their experiences and learn from each other.

Training for Employment

Courses are tailored to assist and support adult learners who may be returning to the workplace or simply changing career. Learners have the opportunity to network with potential employees with guest speakers from local organisations and employment agencies presenting on courses. A CV workshop with job searching skills is integrated into the learning experience.

We also provide adult learners with professional advice and support on career planning. Sessions provide practical information and advice on progression routes within QQI into higher education institutions. Topics such as; the National Framework for Qualification, The Higher Education Links Scheme, UCAS and mature entry to Third level institutions are discussed.
