This is an online course supported by qualified registered Nurse Tutors.
*Course Requirement: Basic IT skills and internet access are required to complete this course. Learners must have basic IT skills and access to a computer or laptop, broadband, email, Microsoft Word (up to date version), recording equipment necessary for the skills demonstration assessment (this can be a Smartphone ).
Duration: I days a week for 5 weeks
Format: Course material with pre-recorded Tutor lectures. Learners receive a 60 page comprehensive Course Handbook at the beginning of the course.

Course Overview:
This module is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills to provide care for older people in a variety of settings.
It is also one of the minimal requirements to work in the home care sector.
The course is divided into 4 Units:
Unit 1. The Ageing Process
Unit 2. Working with the Older People
Unit 3. Caring for an Older Person with specific needs
Unit 4. Care settings.
Assessments for the course:
Project (40%) Written piece of work
Skills Demonstration (60%) 3 Practical tasks
On successful completion of this course the student will be awarded a QQI Level 5 (Component) Certificate in Care of the Older Person. This course can be used as one of 8 modules required to attain a QQI Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare Support.
